Aristotle (4th century BCE,
Greece)
"That which is common to the
greatest number has the least care bestowed upon it. Every one thinks chiefly
of his own, hardly at all of the common interest; and only when he is himself
concerned as an individual."
(Politics, Book 2,
Part 3)
The quote is very clear about people just think about their
interest, and forget about others.
In the case that I choose, the hackers attacked to the
airport websites. As they said, those hackers just wanted to explore new things
and wanted to show off to the hacker community. They would not know the effects
that they might made while doing that. They didn’t mean to steal or harm
anything.
I agree that those hackers are wrong when doing this. Exploring
new things is a good way to learn, but using it to attack to someone’s privacy
is wrong. Their acts would not harm anyone, but it could relate to something else,
like the flight could be delayed for hours. Or even the other hackers could
know that vulnerability and create another attack with more harmful.
