I am not
sure if we have moral obligation to protect our own privacy, but one must
develop it. As giving a reason to it, I would like to refer to Allen's article
where she says, " If a person has a moral obligation to protect her own
privacy, then assuming moral obligations creates prima facie reasons for
acting, she would have a reason over and above prudent self-interest to adopt
measures to safeguard important privacies.” Although It also depends on where
you want to protect your privacy. Privacy could be on social media, it could be
your information that websites collect when you visit or shop online. They
track you, website might set a ‘cookie’, which is a small text file on your browser.
Cookies could be good or bad because they remember you, they can customize a site
to your information and preferences. A user might block cookies from a website.
It should be one’s own duty to protect your privacy. All this comes under
digital privacy. Protection about privacy should be in every sector and everyone
must care about it.
