Do
we have a moral obligation or duty to protect our privacy? Why or why
not?
In my opinion, we have duty to protect our privacy, because privacy is included personal information of people. In this days, any information can be assets. So that we have to protect our privacy to other people for securing ourselves. If we were not protect our privacy, our life will be no secret. It also mean that our every behavior could be observed by someone else.
Is this obligation collective, individual, or both?
I think this obligation is collective, and individual. We can protect our privacy with other people, and individually. When we faced invasion of privacy, we can solve that problem with help from other people. For example, we can get help from government. There are a lot of laws regarding the privacy protection. For individual, we have to secure our information that can be used for crimes. Basically, lock the door, or set password on digital device are one of the ways to protect our privacy. Simple prevention can protect our privacy. For these reason, I think this obligation is both.
