For your final project in this course, you will select a case in computing, select a philosopher in moral philosophy, apply the philosopher's ideas to the case you have chosen, critique the philosopher's approach (as you imagine it) to the case, and offer your own moral analysis of the case. You will present the results of your work in an oral presentation in class, and in a post on this blog.
By 4/4 at 11:59 PM: post to the blog a short (1 paragraph) post describing the case you want to take on for your final project and briefly describing the moral issues at stake in it. Reply to your classmates' cases by 11:59 PM on 4/7. Please try to identify additional moral issues your classmates haven't thought about, or try to provide further information on the case in question.
By 4/11 find a philosopher, link to some of her or his work online and post a list of points about how your philosopher might respond to your case. You can start with summaries like Wikipedia and the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, but you must also consider the philosopher in his or her own words--real quotes from things he or she has written or said.
In class on 4/19, please make a 2-3 minute presentation of your application of the philosopher to the case, your critique of the analysis as you imagine it, and your own analysis of the case. 2-3 minutes is not much time! After each presentation we will have about 3 minutes for Q&A, where your classmates will offer you helpful feedback on your ideas.
The final blog post is due by 4/25 at 11:59 PM.
